Hours/Status Full Time – 40 Hours
Job Description

Responsibilities:  This position is responsible for performing coding and education for rural health clinics.  In addition to audits, the coding and education specialist is responsible for educating providers and staff on coding rules as well as local and non-local policies and procedures to ensure compliancy. Performing chart audits. Extracting relevant information from patient records. Liaising with physicians and other parties to clarify information. Examining documents for missing information.  Providing Management with independent analysis of the results of audits. Enters data from source documents into Practice Management System for patient billing purposes using knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes. Analyzes, researches and corrects data entry errors using Practice Management System, electronic medical record systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Researches and consolidates information required for analysis of revenue cycle operations. Conducts testing of system updates related to revenue cycle processes and provides feedback. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues. Provides training to clinical departments as needed, including training of new providers and coders. Monitors open charts and provides leadership team with weekly reports. Ensuring Company’s business practices are in compliance with medical coding policies and guidelines.



Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Medical Coding: 2+ years (Preferred)
  • AAPC Certified Professional coder (CPC) and/or AHIMA Certified coding Specialist.
  • Auditing experience preferred
  • Experience in healthcare auditing and monitoring is a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge of chart review/auditing training, CPT and ICD-10 coding, health insurance, medical billing procedures in a clinical setting
